The Herd Shot 'Round the World plays an eclectic mix of their own adaptations of classic blues tunes, instrumental surf, and originals, ranging from songs by the Allman Brothers to John Mayall to Dick Dale. The three members of the Herd are: Emery Barter- Guitar Patrick Barter-Drums Grey Burkart-Bass The band, based in Hancock County, Maine, was formed in the summer of 1998. Since then they have played at many arts festivals and other events, including the Sullivan Daze festival and the Schoodic arts festival, and this last summer played one of the top music clubs in Bar Harbor,Carmen Verandah. They also do parties and have even done a wedding. To book the Herd, email. The Herd never plays a song the same way twice, and often will head off into an extended jam. Our guitarist Emery's sound is firmly rooted in the blues, but he thorws jazz, psychedelic, and surf riffs into his solos and rhythm playing. Grey pounds out a solid low end that holds everything together, and occasionally will slap out a solo. Patrick drives the music with his wild drumming syle, and blows away the crowd with warp speed solos. Much of the credit for getting the band started goes to Brian Cote, who got the band on it's feet. He was our drummer until late last summer, and generously subbed and saved our necks when Patrick was at the state jazz band competitions. |
